Your tears nearly broke me this evening. You said you were struggling. And I fill you with words you already know. Words you hear often.
Isaiah 41:10
10 So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (NIV)
Psalm 55:22
22 Cast your cares on the LORD
and he will sustain you;
he will never let
the righteous be shaken.
This walk with Christ will stretch and challenge.
We pray together, our knees imprinted into carpet beside your bed, heads bowed. I encourage you to be real in your words, in your prayers. There is no need to mask what God already knows. I kiss your head and tell you I am always here. I turn lights off and pull your door behind me.
And my own tears well. There is much I can give you, shoes and clothes, blankets when you are cold.
But I can’t build your relationship with Christ.
Stay the course. Give discouragement a name, she is real, but don’t let her swallow or sway you from truth.
